The February 23–24, 2027 New York State Bar Examination will be administered in person at the general population test center locations listed below.
In accordance with Board Rule 6000.8, examinees are assigned to a test center within one of the four judicial departments in New York State. Assignments are made based on availability and on a first‑come, first‑served basis. No examinee is guaranteed a seat in any particular city or test center, regardless of residence or law school location.
All registered examinees will receive an email in early January 2027 with a link to select and confirm their preferred test center location (Albany, Buffalo, New York City, or Long Island). Only test centers with available seats will be available to select as a preference. Once a test center is full, it will no longer be listed. If your preferred test center does not appear, you must choose from the test centers available when you access the link.
First‑time examinees who graduate with a Juris Doctor degree from a New York State law school will have priority in choosing their test center.
Examinees who have already been approved or partially approved for non standard testing accommodations (NTA) at the time the test center selection email is sent will be unable to select a test center location because their test center will have already been assigned by the Test Accommodations Department.
The Board will not maintain a waitlist for any test center. All examinees—except those already awarded accommodations at the time the email is sent—must select a test center.
FAILURE TO MAKE A TEST CENTER SELECTION IN RESPONSE TO THE BOARD’S TEST CENTER SELECTION EMAIL WILL RESULT IN YOUR WITHDRAWAL FROM THE BAR EXAMINATION.
